Combina Cojines como un Experto

Combine Cushions Like an Expert

You've probably wondered what decorators or stylists consider when creating such perfect cushion combinations.

Combining prints and colors is often more difficult than it seems, and for fear of looking bad, we opt for the easy way out: plain, neutral-colored cushions. In many cases, the end result is a result that can end up looking quite boring.

We're not saying that neutral colors are boring, NEVER! But even neutral colors have their tricks to make them look interesting and full of personality.

To be practical, there are three aspects to consider when choosing cushions:

01. Identify a color palette :

With this step, we'll have most of the work done, since the colors are responsible for unifying the design.

Cushions are an ideal way to incorporate color into neutral spaces, accompany the changing seasons, and emphasize other elements that share the same color palette, such as a rug or a painting.

If you don't have a color palette in mind, you can use your favorite patterned pillow as a starting point.

02. Varies in sizes and shapes

Once you've chosen your color palette, you can think about what sizes to choose.

A rule that never fails is to start with the largest and decrease the size.

For sofas, you can opt for a more traditional arrangement that's symmetrical on both sides, or a more contemporary one, with an asymmetrical layout and using cushions of different shapes.

03. Varies in prints

We recommend starting with organic, floral prints. These types of prints feature curves, movement, and often multiple colors, making them more challenging to combine.

Next, a geometric print, characterized by lines and repetition. They perfectly complement the organic print, creating visual balance. To make it coherent with the rest, choose at least one of the colors from the floral print to feature on this geometric pillow.

Once you've chosen these two, you can choose a geometric or organic print that's significantly larger or smaller in scale. This will help unify the other prints and make the overall look more interesting.

Last but not least, we have plain cushions. These can be textured to make them even more interesting.

They give a rest and visual balance to the whole.
